The sign represents one of the typical clueless, moronic responses to the 99 Percent Movement. No one is saying give up all consumer goods and few are saying destroy capitalism. But many of us do recognize that in the past three decades, our system has gotten seriously out of balance with a small number of wealthy players and multnational corporations grabbing political power, gaming the system in their own favor, shrinking the middle class, and threatening both the American dream and American democracy.

The bottom line is that no one -- aside from Cain, the alleged victims, and perhaps a few other people close to the situation -- know what really happened. But you can bet that reporters are fanning out across the country to check out this story and any other related acts he may or may not have committed from high school onward. In the meantime, its amusing and instructive to witness the characteristic wingnut response to Cain's dilemma -- deny, attack, or explain away inconvenient information. Aduilts wait until the facts are in, and if those facts contradict previous assumptions, they alter their believes. In general, conservatives believe what they want to believe.
