Obama's Incompetence Sinks In

We could only wish his presidency was failing. It looks to me like what's happening is what he and his administration want to happen - the turning of the US into a third world country.

Mardi Gras is most emphatically NOT a Christian based celebration. it is a pagan based celebration. You are correct that it has connections to the Roman Catholic Church in some fashion, but there is absolutely nothing biblical about that so-called "celebration". It is indeed a sad commentary that some that profess to be Christian fall into this kind of temptation and false teaching. I think if anyone thinks about Mardi Gras for 10 seconds, one knows it violates a whole host of God's Commandments and is sinful at the core.

Gay Marriage To Continue In Oregon

There was a good reason homosexuality was considered abnormal behavior by the American Psychiatric Association until the 1970's - because it was - and is. Sure there were people in the "closet" and no one knows the actual numbers of homosexuals. But the decline in morality in general and the breakdown in the family has surely led to increased abnormal behavior resulting from it. Homosexuals are deviants, just as thieves, murderers and adulterers are. Those who encourage such behavior will be accountable to God for not only failing to warn those practicing them but for deceiving them that there will be no judgment for it.

The increase in homosexual behavior is an indication that our society is not becoming degraded but now has, in fact, arrived at a degraded place. It's a sad testament to what happens to great countries that turn their backs on Jesus Christ and no longer acknowledge Him or His authority. Debauchery becomes acceptable behavior.

Barber is right on the money. And Schadenfreude, your thinking that economic and morality are separate a false dichotomy. Barber is hitting on an issue which has to do with the moral health of our society which has fundamental economic implications. The tone of your post indicates it may be something you need to deal with.

The Misinformed Case for Voter ID

charlesmartel1 Wrote: May 15, 2014 9:22 PM
You don't make rules by the exception. I rarely read Chapman's columns anymore because they have this kind of fallacious reasoning. As someone who has been a poll official, even without voter ID, there are people who can't vote for some reason or another. But I can tell you having an ID - something that is required for all kinds of less important things, does serve a critical purpose. If Chapman can't see that, no one can help him.

Bitcoin Is Not Real Money

I understand and agree with your point. My point is that there are people out here who understand what's going on that have no confidence in the dollar or most of the other currencies. Thus, people are looking for another medium of exchange. And if and when an alternative medium is created, be it bit coin or something else. it's going to be real trouble for the US.

Bitcoin Is Not Real Money

Mr. Kudlow misses the big point - Bitcoin is a response to reckless monetary policy all over the world, where governments have thrown responsibility to the wind printing money out of thin air as well (as other posters have noted). Bitcoin may fail but something IS going to replace what we have now, as paper backed by nothing is unsustainable long term, not just for us but for the world. It's a warning shot but apparently he can't see that.
Let's just stop using the word gay. By using it, we are allowing the corruption of the language. And way to stand tall, Jonah, saying "I'm not against 'gay' marriage". Goldberg usually has a lot of good things to say, but caving on homosexual "marriage" is cowardice.

The Lesson of Dunkirk

I have a huge amount of respect for Dr. Sowell. And if Boehner and Cantor were calling Obama evil and filing a protest as they retreated, that might be fine. But they are not showing any opposition in their retreat. And that is the big difference between them and Dunkirk. The Tea Party is the small boats that have come in to attempt to salvage what's left of the union. I don't consider talking heads like Karl Rove and Bill O'Reilly the kink of men I would follow into battle. That's where, in my view, his analogy seriously breaks down.
Very classy by Senator Scott. This is what real leadership looks like.
