Again, all I can say is that I have seen a lot of kids raised by homosexual couples or individuals. All have made terrific parents as far as I can tell. In most cases the children would not have had any parents at all if not for their gay parents. How would they be better off being orphans? I don't get the argument. I'm hearing disgust in place of an argument. I'm not criticizing your feelings, just not seeing how they're relevant to the issue of gays as adoptive parents.
Amen to that.
I know plenty of kids raised by homosexuals. The gay individuals or couples in every case did a terrific job as parents. Their parenting ability is a separate issue from the disgust any might feel for their proclivities and way of life. Most of the kids I know that have been raised by gays came from orphanages in China. I have to assume that many might never have been part of a family or known security and love if they hadn't been adopted by their gay parents. I see this as a positive, not a negative. Who would have benefitted if this option had been denied them? I still don't understand visceral disgust as a rational argument in cases like this.
I don't usually agree with Ann, but I almost always find her both thoughtful and amusing. Being a libertarian and not viewing myself as an idiot or a moral coward, I was naturally less than pleased at this week's column. I honestly just don't get why she is so incensed about this issue and why she wants to take it all out on libertarians. So gays get married. So what? Who is harmed? So gays adopt kids. Isn't that better than the kids living in orphanages, or worse? What legal issues regarding marriage cannot be resolved by the courts? What's wrong with case law? Nine times out of ten it's better than the laws drafted by congress. Sorry, I'm simply not seeing what she's going on about here. Christians who want to protect the sanctity of...

This is depressing. When a man of Olasky's intelligence defends a literalistic view of the creation account in Genesis, we are in trouble. The Bible also says the sun rotates around the earth. Anyone still believe that? Sorry, but when science reveals facts we had best acknowledge them as such. If they appear to contradict our understanding of Scripture, then most likely it is our understanding of Scripture that will have to change. This has been going on since Galileo. The Bible contains all we need to know concerning faith and morals, but it is hardly a detailed, accurate account in scientific terms of terrestrial and human origins (though "Let there be light" does sound like a good summary of the Big Bang). Unfortunately, despite...
