I am struck by the obvious use of several "Rules for Radicals" during the “fiscal cliff” negotiations. Boehner is, or appears to be, negotiating in good faith. He is following Obama's script. "Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules" (As Speaker of the House his “rules” are to negotiate and compromise. Obama's refusal to cooperate has Boehner floundering) "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon" "Keep the pressure on" "The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition" (Was the “fiscal cliff” structured with this in mind?) "The real action is in the enemy's reaction" "The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength"

The Republic is safe.

No, Boehner’s got other ways to screw up the economy, ones that have the happy effect- for him- of keeping the government vortex flowing and sucking in all the money it can.
