Excellent post, Pistol. I wish I could have said it as well myself. Excellent post!
Thank you, Michelle Malkin. Perfect beginning to my day.

Whitewashing Black Racism

Doctor Paul - excellent comment, except that I daresay you let Mr. Holder off easy by labeling him a mere political hack. He is, in effect, institutionalizing a racist organization that is the flip side of the KKK. However, I have to hand it to you - there is no adjective to describe his actions that can be printed here.

Traitorbill - a future generation of children should know that some of the roots of our native language do come from Mexico. English is a marvelous language - the most flexible and adaptable in the world. The English language adopts words of all kinds from other languages, and even makes them up when nothing suitable is available. There is no other language that I can think of that can measure up to the versatility and adaptability of English.

Half-sage - You make a good point. When I first meet someone and am just getting to know that person, I really am not interested in how many years of education or degrees she or he has. It's pretty meaningless, other than to tell me how that someone spent her time for a few years. An interesting, engaging, and bright person can have higher degrees, but having higher degrees does not make a person interesting, engaging, or bright.

lilly - Good poetry references. St. John of the Cross is one of my favorites - thanks for bringing him back to my dusty memory banks. Just talking about him makes me want to read him again. As for "anecdote" and "antidote", I have to cut Mr. Hill some slack because I have had the frustrating experience, more than once, in which I have been composing on my iPhone and the phone software automatically substituted a word that was unintended by me. This resulted in some hilarious moments, in which the substituted word looked somewhat similar, but was nowhere close in meaning to what I wanted to write. Now I'm watchful for those substitutions, but knowing that they occur, I can see how that can happen to other people who might be...

Matagordabill, the "spookiest" book for me has been "Fahrenheit 451" and it has been one of my favorites. The movie was so-so, but as is usually the case, the book was better. So much truth in it - it is spooky because I'm watching the truth unfold in my lifetime.
