In the 50's Democrats carried lunchboxes and worked for Republicans.... then came the 60's with Lbj's Great Society and Ted Kennedy's Family reunification act... and young progressives siezed on civil ights and Vietnam, allthewhile tearing down the "establishment". Throw in Alinsky's rules and this was a perfect set of circumstances to produce today's liberals. Now.... what circumstances could reverse that??? Pray that they occur.

I have had a friend... an admitted elitist ultra lib with a ridiculously high IQ.... since we began arguing in high school in the 60's.... back then it was about "individual liberties"... to this day, he believes that big gov't increases liberties and opportunities for all.(his career was as a public defender in Ca.) He sees free enterprise capitalists like myself as "robber barons" who don't pay their fair share. How does one get through to someone like that? I give up!

@vietnamvet... and everyone else... If you were in vietnam, you are old enough to remember 1965... the year ted kennedy's Family Unification Act went into law. This is where it all started.. before that, there was a naturalization process with standards and a preference for better educated people. Lastly, it's heartening to see nearly everyone here is on the correct side of the issue, but we are in the minority overall. Sad.

Amnesty is the logical conclusion of ted kennedy's Family Reunification act of 1965 whose conclusion has flooded us with undesirables. Does "overwhelming the system" ring a bell? Hint: Alinskys' Rules. Building the wall and repealing the FRA will at least allow things to stabilize over a few decades.... so long as illegal Mexicans build it from the south side and lock themselves out.

Absolutely.... In 1980 regarding Lech Lewenza I used to say "There are only 2 things that can defeat communism.... the Catholic Church and Polish labor unions".... 2 large groups of people that actually were one in the same. At least it worked in Poland...
