After 23 years in the USAF my retirement came out to be a little over 21000 before taxes. In my case it was based on 50% of my base pay which didnt include any extras. Those who came after me get even less thanks to the democraps in DC. Guess if we unionized and voted for the donkeys we could have made it rich. I never joined with the intent to get rich off of the taxpayer and it saddens me to think that there are those like the fire chief noted above that think its ok to do so.
