It says provide for the general welfare of the U.S., not every person that does not work, or that comes to the U.S. so that they can get welfare, without becoming citizens. The welfare of the United States is what she needs to function, like police, fire, education, and of course defense as already stated.

Since when are the democrats worried about the Bible? I am having such flashbacks to the late 70's, and I sincerely hope that the outcome of this election is the same. Obama hiding behind the Bible now?, after two years of no raises for the elderly and handicapped? What a bunch of hypocrits.....

I meant to continue that with the idea of an economics test before you can vote. Nothing too difficult, just simple stuff like "what happens when you cannot pay your bills?, why do some things cost more than others?, just stuff a high school graduate should know, but most don't...

owning property does not make you smart...I was a property owner, but now live in an apartment since I am handicapped and unable to care for and maintain property. I still have my business degree however and I will forever understand the mess that obama is making of my beloved country.
Carol, I am poor, the people that "The One" was going to help because "he cared". I was not poor before 2001, I had a nice job, not a lot of benefits, but I had a 401k, and could also save money. Then, I became disabled, for 2 years I lived on savings and 401k(at a huge tax chunk taken away). Then I had no choice but to move to Sweden, a country where my husband was from. Finally in 2004, after two appeals, the judge granted my SSD. Now I live on about a two week salary every month. My husband is a retired teacher, so money is a problem. With the dollar falling constantly it is worth less and less. With no raise for two years, well, this year I cannot even get my grandkids Christmas presents. I am wondering who these poor are...

You remind me of my husband. He is a proofreader. He has stopped proofreading anything that I write, because he values his family jewels. :) Just teasing you Mr. Gump.
