American Catholics, like American Jews, are fools to trust Obama. After Catholics helped Obama to victory in 2008, he thanked them for their support by imposing his mandate to cover contraceptives and abortifacients, both morally objectionable to most Catholics. Even after this, Catholics again played a major role in helping Obama to victory in 2012. Catholics just don't seem to understand that they cannot get into bed with Obama on socialism, welfare, and immigration, but then expect him to stay out of religious freedom. And American Jews? A hefty percentage of them continue to support a man who is chummy with groups who want to wipe the land of their ancestors off the map. Go figure.

I think Catholics comprise about 25% of the electorate. In 2008 Obama got 54% of their votes. In 2012 I think he got about half of their votes. I don't think it can be said that Catholics played a major role in his victory.

It's only the Catholics in name only who voted for Obama. The people who are faithful Catholics see through him, evan with the fact that as a church we can't endorse a candidate. Unfortunately, only about 20% of Catholics attend Mass regularly, which helped Obama win the 'Catholic' vote.

Only about a quarter of Catholics attend church on Sunday. Even after Obama's contraceptive mandate, his decline in Catholic votes was minimal. Sadly, Obama is just a reflection of our own corruption as a people.
