Also, contrary to the belief, we do know that Republican party once stood for many good principles which included the abolition of slavery etc. I also know my history about the Democratic south that wanted to continue all the segregation policies. You talk about the "hippie" movement with such contempt and today's Democrats as being the product of that era. Well, not all of what that movement did was right especially the drug use, but I am glad they stood for so many good things. They stood for equality,social-justice (not your twisted interpretation) that many Americans were denied during that time. If not for those courageous Americans, African-Americans would still be hung from trees for trying exercise their right to vote or denied entry into a university just because of their skin color.
