I saw a few in here dicussing about intellectual curiosity from left, what a noble thought indeed if only any from the neo-conservative movement ever think about people outside the United States? There are 6 billion people who live in the world, and if ever any real discussion or debate that has occurred about the rest of the world is when it's about "terrorism" or how inferior they are. This lack of understanding about different countries, cultures and races has been intertwined from the beginning for certain part of the US population. It was convenient to kill hundreds of thousands of Native Indians becuase they weren't "human" or the fact that slavery was acceptable because they weren't White Christians, and therefore dont' deserve...
and just world Cheney would be a war criminal along with Bush and those who support them would shunned by the rest of the world. But, welcome to the world where neo-conservatives and "birthers" live in and there everything goes including the indefensible and being ignorant about the rest of the world. An AG is supposed to look at violations that have been comitted and go against and the DOJ is supposed to be non-partisan department that supposed to go after people even in the highest echleons of power, and especially when it comes to violating so many international laws. I am sorry wait a minute, I forgot anything that says 'International Treaties or Laws' is supposed to be treasonous to you morally superior beings. UN is an...

"If the federal government is a "hurricane of cover-up, chaos, and incompetence," why should we hand over health care to them? "

You people keep repeating the same non-sense about government. It's about who runs the government, if village idiots like Bush run anything ofcourse that will be a disaster. There are crooked politicians from both parties, but that does not mean government cannot work efficient. They don't have roles in everything but they do have roles education, health, and public works .

There should no doubt there are really violent people in this world hell-bent killing and maiming just push their idealogy on people, but that is not the only reason. In order to understand that world, you have to talk to differnt people of differnt cultures, they all don't have time to just in a corner and start hating the US. The world has so many different kinds of people other than the ones that live in US, Europe, and another important place for you "conservatives" Israel. There are lots differences even among Muslims, I lived among them in the US and all don't follow the same religious orthodoxy. We can go back in history and see how many dictators were developed by US foreign policies in the Arab world and elsewhere just for sole...

People like you are exactly the reason why the world think Americans are generally ignorant and 'live in a fish bowl'. The rest of the world and the "terrorists" (I use quotes here because the word has been jaded just by people like you) does not hate America because of "who we are", but for the policies that have enforced through the wonderful politicians people like you have put in office.

being, but that's not something to be really suprised even at somebody's death. For about half a century now, overt racism has been covered up the so-called logical speak of "fiscal conservitism", "national security", "socialism", and even "Judeo-Christian beliefs". At this point even right-wingers will themselves be outraged at the very mention that there is racist background when it comes to political discourse in this country on their part, why? Before it was very convenient to directly mention race and how the fact that "inferior races" should never be say, vote, elected to public office or work in any part of the government. But, now after the lengthy struggle those "factors" could not be directly mentioned in public discourse, and...

Also, contrary to the belief, we do know that Republican party once stood for many good principles which included the abolition of slavery etc. I also know my history about the Democratic south that wanted to continue all the segregation policies. But, that all changed after the 60s when JFK changed the face of the Democratic party (civil right legislation etc) and the switch that ensued of Democratic voters in the south to Republican ever since. So, you are the people who trying to revise the history, there is nothing wrong in being honest about a country's past which inlcude good things and bad things. You want to remember just the good things about WW-II while completely forgetting how many minorities were treated right here in the...

You talk about the "hippie" movement with such contempt and today's Democrats as being the product of that era. Well, not all of what that movement did was right especially the drug use, but I am glad they stood for so many good things. They stood for equality,social-justice (not your twisted interpretation) that many Americans were denied during that time. If not for those courageous Americans, African-Americans would still be hung from trees for trying exercise their right to vote or denied entry into a university just because of their skin color.

So, no matter how many times people like you try denigrate and reduce that movement to just a bunch of crazy drug-abusers, the rest of the nation both black and white, understand...
and courage to go against the majority and that's always been the case with Jimmy Carter. No matter how the right in this country denigrates this man, who at this age is working hard across the spectrum and is appreciated all over the world for the dedication he has displayed for peace and justice. He is not going to sit in his ranch or at country clubs or make speeches across this country to fill his coffers like Bush etc. Because of your anger against certain groups people, you will never ever understand people who are different then yourselves in this country or acrss the world. People no longer consider themselves racist, because years and years of code word have replaced words like nig**r into "welfare weasels" etc.
