Everyone needs to know that a company’s denial of a claim can be contested by writing your state insurance department explaining the situation in detail. The state will look into it without charge. Insurance companies do not like to hear from any insurance department. I have personally done this a couple of times with good results.

This doesn't mean that every claim will be paid. Everything depends on the contract language. A lawyer may still be needed. But, the first step is writing the insurance department.
Bob, you are correct. That is in effect now. For example, newborns are added automatically, irrespective of health. Any child, physically or mentally disabled, will continue to be insured so long as the policy remains in force. There is no age limitation.

The problem arises where the parents have no insurance or couldn't get the dependent adult insured. I assume that Medicaid would then be an option.
I can see insuring your children while they are in school. Once out of school they should be on their own. I’m not sure it is necessary, though, to extend the coverage. I thought the colleges and universities had student insurance at a reasonable cost. Of course, parents could still pay for it.

What happens if the child marries? Add the spouse to the policy because he/she is now a relative? What about any grandchildren that may be born before the child is 26 (or 27)?
