Common sense shows that while recent graduates have a long wait before finding employment in their chosen field now, that wait will INCREASE when the retirement age is increased and people will be forced to stay in their jobs.

Dear Graduates: You’re Screwed!

Recent graduates and soon to graduate need to be in the forefront of opposition to RAISING the retirement age as a way to make Social Securirty solvent. Recent graduates , presently, have a difficult time finding employment in their chosen field of study...just imagine how much more difficult it will be when people are forced to continue working because of an INCREASE in the retirement age. I await the commencement speech that will address this reality, and propose a positive realistic solution to the Social Security crisis.
Vader!##%: If you are old enough to die in the military or suffer some life long disabiliy, then you should be able to vote for who you feel should be Commander in Chief. I agree that unfortunately young people are more easily apt to fall for a line of nonsense inasmuch as they have not (in the vast majority of cases) had experiences enough to make an intelligent decision, however let us not discount my first comment. I have been politically involved for over 45 years, in more ways than one and can tell you that from what I have seen 75% of the people who cast ballots, do NOT do so intelligently. The lack of intelligence is NOT limited to those under 21.
For those who have not given it any thought, if you think the young have it rough now, wait until the RETIREMENT age is increased, Recent grads have a hard enough time finding employment now, I wonder how fewer employment prospects they will have when more people have to stay on their jobs because they are not old enough to retire.
If you think it is bad for young people now, wait until the RETIREMENT AGE is RAISED. UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES or PENNY WISE POUND FOOLISH take your pick and have the "this is the way to save Social Security " crowd come up with an obviously better plan to save Social Security.
This should serve as a learning experience to those politicans who have felt secure becaouse of longevity in office. However, until such time as the voter takes it upon themselves to TRULY reform campain finance, we will not get government of the people, by the people and for the people. Bill Bradley a former two term U.S Senator has some interesting insight as to the evil that PRESENT financing of campaigns sow.
david482, Wheras I agree it is ridiculous to rely on the Pew agency reports, I also find your 38.000.000 illegal aliens assertion equally as ridiculous.
Mitt Romney was ridiculed for his common sense solution of SELF DEPORTATION to the illegal immigration question. What is NOT commonly known is that the Obama administration has deported more aliens than any other administration and that INCREASED use of E-VERIFY , enforcement of the law AGAINST the HIRING OF ILLEGAL ALIENS ( in existance since 1986 ) , and improved Mexican economy , have all contributed to stemming the flow of illegal immigration, There is no doubt that the immigration system needs reforming, but it will be helpful if some common sense were applied when suggesting such reform.

Happy Jake and others who cite the census be aware I WAS A CENSUS EMPLOYEE , at a highly specialized position. I am not dealing with technicalities but with reality. I do understand that when one traces back many generations there are multi-racial aspects to many individuals , but when one sees, it is what seems to be that is. Unfortunately, the term WHITE HISPANIC is being erroneously used to descriibe George Zimmerman. It needs repeating for all who are misinformed a white Hispanic is a person born of TWO Hispanic parents.

Zimmerman is NOT a white Hispanic ...He is a half breed, white father/Hispanic mother. The media needs to get it right...unfortunately, some who read or hear misinformation tend to perpetuate it.,
