Legal immigrants won't do the work either--at least not at rates that farmers consider "reasonable"--if they can collect benefits . . . and they _can_ collect benefits. 57% of Mexican immigrants are collecting welfare payments even as we write these comments. Farmers will keep facilitating illegal immigration, no matter how many illegal aliens are amnestied under whatever scheme is eventually passed by Congress, because only illegals will work for the low wages they wish to pay.

I, with my burnable irish complexion, have worked construction and landscaping jobs under the brutal sun of Mississippi and Alabama. Now, those jobs are filled by Jose, Enrique, Dagoberto, Xavier, Pedro, et al.

It ain't just farmers. Have you looked at that crew fixing/paving that road? Look at new home construction. Conditions on that hot roof are like home to the workers. Janitorial staffing no longer speaks English. The list goes on.

And Mike Rowe proved that there is no such thing as a job Americans won't do.
