Libertarian Ron Paul supported him. Most libertarians who were Ron Paul fans said they'd vote for Paul. They wouldn't even vote for their own candidate, who's name escapes me at the moment.

Clearly, Romney's choice to distance himself from the social conservatives was not enough for the "left libertarians." The "right libertarians" probably disliked him for most of the same reasons why most conservatives were not enthusiastic about him.

The left libertarians are, above all, social liberals. I suspect that they pretend to be Republicans or potential GOP voters in an effort to pull the GOP to the left on social issues, without ever having any intention of voting for a Republican. The right libertarians are left-over "nineteenth century liberals" and generally pretty good people.

Small minds always leap to the answers given the last time around, which is probably why Maxine Waters keeps getting re-elected. But the last time is not necessarily the same as this time. A terrorist attack is not the same as the Cold War, a war in Afghanistan is not the same as a war in Iraq, and Mitt Romney is not the same as John McCain or Bob Dole.
