Me- Not really. Most British can't own private firearms, and they are every bit as free as we are.
German citizens were disarmed after WWII (ironically, by General Eisenhower), and guess what, they get along perfectly well without every German man feeling the need to own a gun as a pen is substitute. (Which I really do think explains many of you and your fascination with guns.)
