In response to:

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley Won't Run for Re-Election

I'm always amazed how people who don't live here denounce what Daley does... There's a reason why this guy won six elections as mayor and three elections as State's attorney.. But Plutocrats don't believe in Democracy... I can kind of understand why he's not running again. He's 68, after december, he'll have served longer than any mayor in history, (the previous record being held by his father, who was taken out of the job feet first.)

That's not the reason he is not running. As far as being a long running mayor? It's not called the Chicago machine for nothin! Speaking of Plutocrats...Richie is one of them.

Now as for Emanuel...yah, that's what Chicago needs - a ballerina for mayor....LOL
This news creates quite a power vacuum in the vaunted Chicago political machine.  For better or worse, the Daley name has been associated with Chicago governance seemingly forever, and now there's a major opening.  Expect many comers.  Ready for that change of scenery yet, Rahm?
