I'm always amazed how people who don't live here denounce what Daley does...
There's a reason why this guy won six elections as mayor and three elections as State's attorney..
But Plutocrats don't believe in Democracy...
I can kind of understand why he's not running again. He's 68, after december, he'll have served longer than any mayor in history, (the previous record being held by his father, who was taken out of the job feet first.)
This news creates quite a power vacuum in the vaunted Chicago political machine. For better or worse, the Daley name has been associated with Chicago governance seemingly forever, and now there's a major opening. Expect many comers. Ready for that change of scenery yet, Rahm?
