To understand why Libertarians are voting for Gary Johnson, or why the Libertarian Party exists at all, all you need to do is read these comments. Libertarians and Ron Paul supporters are dismissed as crazies, demeaned, called names, their positions are misrepresented, and they are basically shunned by the Republican Party. If Romney and the Republicans had wanted these votes, it would have been easy to draw the libertarians into the party, but the tent was too small and the campaign too narrow. Those votes are gone now, and if Romney loses, it's his and the party's fault, not the Libertarians who are simply voting for the candidate that best represents their beliefs.
Mitt Romney is now neck and neck with Obama in New Hampshire, a stunning feat considering the former governor was trailing the president by 15 points at the end of September. But some independent voters who say they would vote for Romney if just he and Obama were on the ballot, are instead voting for Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson. These swing voters are giving the president a potential advantage in November.

A Suffolk University Political Research Center poll released Monday shows Romney and Obama tied with 47 percent of the vote each in New Hampshire.
