Because that is the OLD FASHIONED way to run a communist takeover. Tends to leave the people with a bad taste in their mouth, then you have to spend a lot on repression, staged court trials, and prison camps. The NEW FASIONED way is to take over the media (esp. TV), Hollywood, Acadmemia, Unions, public education, etc etc etc. You get into power by any means, then use society's institutions against it. You get homosexuals, minorities and feminists to back you and spend all their energy fighting the anti-communists, then eliminate them once you have consolidated power. By the time you are in power, the sheeple will be completely brainwashed, and worship you like the good little serfs they really are. See how successful it was in North Korea?
