Not only that, but agreeing with requiring a background check for private sales. I might prefer to go through a dealer rather than sell to someone I do not know, but why should that be required by law? Why should it be required if I am selling to a person I know well? Isn't it already illegal to sell to someone that you "know or should know" is not eligible to have a gun?
