We did not play cops and robbers or cowboys and Indians when I was young. We played GUNS — and the outcome was not predetermined. The sides were often officers' row kids versus enlisted row kids, so there was some built in rivalry.
One of the prime rules of self-defense, including armed self-defense, is to be where known danger isn't. Standing one's ground when avoidance is easy just because one has a gun is foolhardy. There is no guarantee that having a gun is enough. Protection comes in layers: time, distance, cover, weapon, etc. More is better.

How is open carry related to the story under discussion? The doctor had had his Seecamp .32 in his pocket.

Ther is a difference between casual open carry and "in-your-face" open carry that should be part of the discussion.

I'm sorry, just when did open carry get into the discussion? The doctor's gun was one of the smallest, most concealable available. http://goo.gl/XJOMDE.

To be an official mass shooting, four or more have to die. CHL holders do not STOP mass shootings because the shootings do not get up to "critical mass." CHL holders do PREVENT mass shootings. :-)
I really would like to know Obama's reaction. Might he laugh?
I, too, am in the same situation. Basic rules to assure marital happiness ? Your spouse is not here on earth to make you happy; you are here to make your spouse happy. ? Choose as a spouse one who has the same belief. Husbands’ backup rules to assure marital happiness Although “If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy,” only two things are necessary to keep Momma happy: ? Let her think she is having her way, and . . . ? Let her have it.
