I once had a similar problem as the government has now. I was under the impression once in my life that I had to be everything to everyone. I was in debt constantly borrowing more to throw it at the cost of the old debt, unable to start anything new to produce income and thereby helping myself. Keeping the status quo was all I thought about. Let me tell you that the sun does come up the following morning. Bankruptcy the unthinkable scenario in my mind forced me to make changes. Everyone worried about any vital service being impacted as a result of sequestration, Priorities will go to the front of the line. Things like the funding of shrimp on treadmills to test their endurance will fall to the wayside. It is a much needed reset.

Republicans don't want military spending and Democrats don't want cuts in social programs. The best thing to do would be doubling or tripling the cuts, but compromise tends to work in the other direction.
