To take it a step further, banning both assault rifles and high-capacity magazines won't stop them, either. Criminals and the deranged don't respect ink on paper saying something is banned. Unless the Left thinks it can also CONFISCATE every banned weapon and magazine, they will still be out there for decades long after any new law or ban is passed. That's why this "ban" is nothing but a feel-good exercise for the Left. NO ONE will be ANY safer, not even the precious "cherlen." The only way to stop a deranged lunatic with a gun is with another gun. Otherwise, the police would show up with whistles and counselors to end a rampage. Trouble is, we can't wait for the police when someone is shooting right now and unless you or I are armed....

Media discussions of gun control are dominated by two factors: the National Rifle Association and the Second Amendment. But the over-riding factual question is whether gun control laws actually reduce gun crimes in general or murder rates in particular.
