IMHO what we are seeing in the ME is a result of Obama's victory and would not be happening if Romney had won. America's enemies, Islamists, celebrated Obama's victory. They knew it would be good for them. I don't believe the WH is upset with the move at the UN. A tut tut here, a tut tut there. I do see them upset with Israel over settlers. World opinion is so crazy. Who insists that a country decrease border security after another bus bombing in a major city, Tel Aviv? Who gives more land away when the last time in 2005 got them rockets, not peace? Leftism has nothing to do with rationality, and a lot to do with anti-Semitism, and a general hatefulness and covetousness.

There was no uncertainty about who won the battle for Constantinople in 1453 (the Ottoman Caliphate), or who lost the battle for Vienna in 1529 (the Ottoman Caliphate). In the Civil War, the North decisively defeated the South. In the Battle of the Bulge, the Allies prevailed, and the Axis never recovered.

These days, however, the fog of war shrouds not only conflicts that are underway, but even conflicts that have halted. And so there is now a debate about the outcome of what might be called November’s Battle of Gaza.
