She speaks the truth it's a real shame how little empathy we see in American society these days.

You mistake empathy for naivete. We have a social "safety net" that is luxurious compared to historical lifestyles and most of the rest of the world. That's great, except that we can't afford it. We couldn't afford it even if we taxed 100% of the income from those 1 percenters.

The 'poor' in America wouldn't be remotely qualified for the title of 'poor' if you applied the global standard of poverty. The 'poor' in America are not he ones in need of our empathy.

You'd be surprised. Private charity, as personal time contributed as well as money, is a lot more extensive than you might think. And most of private charity goes straight to the needy, as opposed to government "compassion" which goes into a political machine where politics and attrition whittle it down.

Most people can give a fairly moderate amount, but some have a lot to give, and give it. Like Mitt Romney, for one example.

True. If any of us had any decency at all, we would just hand over our entire paycheck every week, instead of selfishly trying to hold on to part of it ourselves. We are really disgusting.

It's amazing.

If you haven't earned anything, you're entitled to what someone else earned

Please stand back. I’ve been waiting for day to say this; waiting to calm down enough that my keystrokes won’t break the keyboard. I heard some lady say something on TV, and seldom have I heard a more idiotic statement from someone in a position to know better … I mean this is so magnificently ignorant – even stupid – that if this woman’s ignorance were radioactive Democrats could build the mother of all nuclear brain bombs. Just one could wipe out all intelligent life on Earth.

The woman we’re talking about is Melissa Harris-Perry. Apparently she has a...
