Ozzie is a clown and should limit his remarks to baseball. In particular he should never speak about any subject other than baseball publicly once he is outside the ball park. How the Sox ever won a World Series with him as manager is beyond me.

To excell in one area, such as managing a baseball team, does not mean one is an authority in all other areas. Many famous people make moronic political statements.

I'd like to know how the topic came up in the first place, and why he thought anybody really wanted to know his opinion on politics on the other.

Last week Miami Marlin’s manager Ozzie Guillen told Time magazine that he “loves and respects” Fidel Castro. This week, reacting to outrage by Americans of Cuban heritage (i.e. a huge chunk of Marlin ticket-buyers,) the MLB suspended Guillen for five games. Apparently eager to head-off worse retribution (and damage–control ticket sales) on April 19th a moping Guillen issued a groveling apology at a Miami press Conference.
