Reading the comments on this article, many of you feel free to demean Mary Cheney and her wife and child. I think former Vice President Cheney and his wife Lynne would have some choice words for so many of you who freely attack their daughter and her family.

Mary Cheney doesn't have a "wife," a word which implies a counterpart, a "husband."

You go tell VP Cheney that his daughter is the "horse's head under the covers of Christian America." Good luck with that!

What I try to do is point out to the many anti-gay commenters on this site is that the individuals they routinely demean, are real people with real families who love them, from all political, religious, and racial groups. The comments here need to understand that when they denigrate LGBT people, they are denigrating, as an example, Cheney's daughter. People on this site may feel free to call LGBT sinners, perverts, awful people who will destroy America and the world - but I have a feeling that if our former VP heard any of you say this, he would defend his daughter and tell you to go to hell.

The Cheney's, even though a former member of the highest branch of the federal government, don't get to redefine marriage any more than you or I do.
