It will take more than a declaration of being pro-development. With the extreme corruption in every level of society there, it will take something short of a miracle to pull this off. And of course, being strongly nationalistic, they will be having additional problems with many of the lower caste citizens because of their bias against other religions. That certainly won't help the overall situation.
Excellent comment. And I salute you for staying true to your political beliefs. I too have never voted for a democrat in my 47 yrs of voting. And I'm proud of it.
To be honest, I don't care much for the term "low information voters." That assumes they are smart and only need to hear the "truth." In actuality, they are not smart, and you can feed them the truth all day long and they still would not make the right decisions. The educational system may be broken, but it is successful. They successfully "dumbed down" the population to such a great extent that there is no hope of salvaging any of these "sheep."
Sorry Don't want to start a Theological argument, but we're talking different God.

Do you not realize that the government and society as a whole already, and has always, dictated morality through the law? Is it not against the law to murder someone, to steal, to lie in court? Is that not dictating morality? There are times when morality must be dictated for the benefit of society as a whole. Individualism is great until someone decides their individualism is more important than my individualism. It's time you get over and realize that the Bible dictates morality for a reason. Because it was what was best for society, not only the individual. I understand it's a fine line sometimes, but it is always better to err on the side of caution. The whole Libertarian philosophy is what got us in this mess in the first place and opened the way for authoritarianism to to sneak in the back door. Because in the sixties everyone thought they should have to do only what was best for themselves. Free sex, drugs, work if I feel like and don't if do not feel like it; "as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else." And now the whole country is hurting because of it. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I know a broken nation when I see one. .

Agreed, the government did screw up in the Vietnam and Middle Eastern wars, and in my opinion also the Korean war. And that's the problem The "government" should not be over seeing the day to day operations of any war, that's what we have the military for. If they had allowed the military to do it's job these wars would not have been lost. I repeat, would NOT have been lost. The government determines if there is a need to go to war and the military carries out the planning and the fighting. Our government wasted thousands of lives for their desire to puff up their egos, show their authority, and micro manage everything about these wars and it's time to stop. I personally support a strong military to avoid someone wanting to "try our hand." But until the military is allowed to do what they do best then it is all for naught. A waste of manpower and materials. Just my opinion.

Margaret Thatcher of India?

I have spent a great deal of time in India over the years, and have many friends there. The BJP Party IS a violent, and Hindu Nationalist party, no matter how you try to define it. And the big concern is not Hindu-Moslem relations as much as it is Christian-Hindu relations. For example, the BJP party has been strong in the state of Odisha for many years and during 1986, 1994, and 2001 there was severe unrest and riots. Many Christians were driven from their homes, churches and hospitals were burned, women and men were viciously beaten and raped. Many reasons were stated for these events, but two of the biggest were building churches and Christian conversions. In 1967, the state passed the Orissa Freedom of Religion Act, which states that no person shall "convert or attempt to convert, either directly or otherwise, any person from one religious faith to another by the use of force or by inducement or by any fraudulent means" This law has then been used to persecute any Christian families, Christian workers, or Christian missionaries purely based on their faith. and desire to share it with others. Christians in India are scared. They see this as a validation of the BJP's desire to cleanse the country of Christianity. I am also cynical of the BJP's ability to turn around the economy due to the deep, systemic corruption that continues to rot the nation from the inside out at ALL levels of society. The general population, for the most part, are not anti-Christian as much as they are pro jobs. The economy is in shambles regardless of what you hear in the government reports. And I believe the people will grasp at any straws to attempt to pull themselves up out of the economic quagmire of poverty. I am especially saddened for the low castes, widows, Lepers, and others at the bottom of the heap who have no choice or opportunities available to them. We can only pray for them and continue to do what we can to help them improve their situation.
The problem is, it takes control out of the government's hands. Doesn't anyone understand yet that this has nothing to do with insuring people, and everything to do with controlling the population and putting more power in the government's hands. Duh!.
Well, now we know who the Huckabee supporters are. Ole "amnesty" Huckabee's hyperbole is going to create nothing but distractions and trouble for his potential political run and for conservatives. Yea, this country is not perfect, and yea, we are in serious trouble that must be corrected, but that is a bit over the top. How about we focus on what needs to be done to correct the situation instead of trying to justify someone's "hyperbole" which is nothing more than undisciplined running off at the mouth. He doesn't need to make statements such as this to look bad, just be himself. We need to join together in support of true conservative-constitutionalists from the beginning, not chase our tails around someone like Huckabee who has already had one failed run for the office of POTUS.
Amen!!
