The constant refrain that those government employees drive the bus is a load of garbage. Their negotiated wage & benefit packages are wrung from administrations that would prefer to pay minimum wages, but generally end up offering a total increase of 3% over a contracts normal three year period. Increases in health care programs or days off are always capped, along with wage increases, at a predetermined level at the onset (How much is on the table), the total package will never exceed that figure. Only how the pie is divided is usually on the table.

What a travesty is the game of blaming government employees. If governments stuck to delivering only their core obligations, there would be a minimum number of employees to ensure proper delivery of those services. But politicians, and bureaucrats, love to build empires. Construct huge, in most cases entirely unnecessary, support staffs, and garner votes. Really vote buying. How do they do this, by creating new, nice to have, city services--which eventually create the financial hole which they end up in. Over the years, resident will not elect anyone who indicates an intent to scale government back to an affordable level, the hole just keeps growing.

School Bans the Word ‘Easter’

In the interest of fairness I post a response from Ms. Davenport: Good Morning, "Thank you for the email. Our students participated in an egg hunt on Friday before we left for Spring Break last week and enjoyed it. I have not banned the word Easter at our school. Thank you again and have a great day. Sincerely, LD"

Endangered: The Constitution

Thumbs up!
You are correct, and as the article states, the hackers are punished. But the current sentences are ludicrous and should be categorized as cruel and unusual, not sanctioned by our courts.
Drilling down to the appropriateness of draconian sentences handed down to those not involved in espionage against the United States: They are evil in themselves. The legislatures and courts that create and impose them deserve to be sentenced to something similar. Those people are the antithesis of a free society. It's a regression to the days when stealing a loaf of bread would garner many years in prison. The punishment is not merely disproportionate to the crime, it's offensive.
Excellent article. Once again; shortsightedness, lobbyist for industry and a constant willingness to impose total control on the lives of American citizens, overrides commons sense and priorities. There is a talent pool which needs to be identified and actively recruited or, in the case of those with mal intent, drafted into an organized department focused on national cyber security and, where appropriate, preemptive/proactive strikes.
Move to Texas Colt, they'll most likely be the last state to abandon our constitution. Dan Malloy's too stupid to understand the dynamics of biting-the-hand-that-feeds the state's coffers.

"So, yes, we ALL help pay for each other's medical care. And some of us are a lot more medically responsible than others." Yes, in those instances you cite, corporate expense provides their employees that benefit. Those companies offer that perk because it enhances their ability to attract and keep good workers. But those whom patronize those corporations do so of their own free will, not under government fiat. It is none of their business, nor do they care, what expensed the provider incurs. Their interest is in the service or product provided, it's quality and fair market value. It all comes back to the same thing, always: INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM OF CHOICE.
No Carl, your comments take first prize. You need to learn to read. He refers to the 56 million victims murdered by tyrants in the 20th century. Nowhere does he mention abortion. You win two prizes here. A first for stupidity and a first for being an A hole.
