He wasn't a Chinese fella, he was a Virginia mountain boy, a private in the US Army who was captured at the Chosen Reservoir. One day he was being bullied into carrying more wood than he could by his Chinese guard. He finally threw down the wood, pointed at the guard's gun and then his own chest. He never had more trouble from that guard, who obviously had some human compassion and sympathy.
