And what he is saying is that there are a number of studies that show that tighter gun control laws have exacerbated, not lessened the problem. The reason the NRA comes out immediately in the aftermath of a tragedy like Sandy is that gun control advocates are so swift to use these tragedies as a platform for stricter gun control. It has been my observation that the gun control advocates nearly always begin this unproductive avenue of discourse. On the other hand, it seems that given the number of studies that show gun control isn't effective we might try to have a discussion about what kinds of ailments in society are causing this in the first place.

Must every tragic mass shooting bring out the shrill ignorance of "gun control" advocates?

The key fallacy of so-called gun control laws is that such laws do not in fact control guns. They simply disarm law-abiding citizens, while people bent on violence find firearms readily available.

If gun control zealots had any respect for facts, they would have discovered this long ago, because there have been too many factual studies over the years to leave any serious doubt about gun control laws being not merely futile but counterproductive.
