No....I would not. There is a difference in justice and revenge. Justice would put the perpetrator in jail for the rest of his/her life. Revenge would be me taking another life in return either personally or via the courts. If one is truly pro-life that must apply from birth through out the life of the other person. Otherwise we have nothing but hypocrisy.
How does it make a difference? A core belief system has to include equality for all or it isn't worth much.
I live in one of the states that teaches abstinence only. Our unwed teen birth rates went up during those years until private organizations began programs that did include both abstinence and prevention programs. Then the trend went down. I was once a teenager. I remember what hormones did. I'm also a born from above Christian. That teaches me to also be honest and practical. Continued: War is not protective of human life either. And we haven't defended human life in any of the last several of them....we have defended resources and power. What about capital punishment? That involves taking a life. I am more in favor of locking the perpetrators up for the rest of their lives in a 9x10 cell where they get fed and watered twice a day. Much of this centers on whether we protect the rights of all or just some. It's not a pick and choose. The Constitution says all.
There is no point in quibbling with some of the comments.....they are out of context and repetitive of misleading information. The comment about human life is worth mentioning. Human life is precious, there is no doubt about that. But there seems to be a very short sighted way of looking at it. Why focus on abortion? There would be less abortions if we taught factual information about reproduction in schools at the age when kids start getting curious about sex. Teaching how to prevent pregnancies through use of condoms, etc. would reduce them. The best route for teens at their age is always abstention, but expecting that all the time is unrealistic. Does Chuck mean civil rights for all or just some? Does he include lesbians/gays?
Apologies for the repetition. My computer or the site didn't seem to be responding, but seems to have now caught up. Again, apologies for the repititions. No idea what the numbers added to the end are about!
