". . .women's basketball is fascinating." No, but women's tennis is & it's a real sport. It displays the greatest female athletes on Earth. However, it's not the ultimate blood sport that we've inherited, developed & sublimated from the Indians, called Football. It's a good fit for a society whose favorite foreign policy is blood for treasure.
Big Deal. Our entire regime is Tony Soprano.
Nationalism is moribund in the US & exists only because of our long wanted military isolationism & the English language. Our foreign policy has been messed up at least for the War of 1812, the Civil War, Vietnam & Iraq. We are indeed, the war party of the world. No other tradition is more important or more urgent in preserving the nationalism that seeming once coalesed following Ratification. Our jingoistic & preposterous history has finally depleted our own nationalism. To revive it, we need a new constitution, PJB & a 2nd Republic. There's no appetite for any more empire, even if, we're the putative leaders & controllers of it. Americans are no longer loyal to the regime of 1787 or its promises or its effects.

Too bad Americans don't have the same right to secede like, apparently, the rest of the world. That's the global reset that all nations need & that many of them need to invoke.

Totalitarianism isn't dead. It's alive here & growing with each administration in Sheldon Wolin's famous phrase, "inverted totalitarianism." From the surveillance state, to the militarized police state, to the NSA, NDAA, CIA, FBI, the elimination of individual rights, etc. It has been engineered by the military/industrial, banking/congressional complex & a string of very bad administrations since 1945. We find ourselves little less totalatarian now, than the Germans did in the 1930's or the Russians did in the 1920's. We're like boiling frogs.

I want a new constitution so much that I can taste it. Congress is incapable of reform.

Maybe next time, we can secede too without a civil war.

Time for a new constitution, a 2nd Republic, a real "new deal."

The road to excess leads to the palace of wisdom... for we never know what is enough until we know what is more than enough. -William Blake Don't have a conniption, Pat. Once we get the govt. out of lives & off our backs, there will be communities setting their own standards. The reason why Libertarians are so popular is because we've lost our liberty, i.e., the liberty of our unruly forebearers who fought the Revolution, the liberty of the Anti-Federalists who saw clearly the ensuing tyranny of its own regime, the liberty of the Confederacy that destroyed itself in resisting the supreme "Union." & even the liberty to smoke pot if you want. What we need Pat is a 2nd Republic, a new Constitution, a real "New Deal." Americans are rattling their chains, Pat. Can you hear their cries for justice & mercy?
