The statement by Gore: "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system." is not "I invented the internet." How do you interpret it differently?

Obama's statement did not at all suggest he didn't know how many states there are. You would have to ignore a rather obvious pause, and rather obvious intent of a mid sentence correction.

Whenever I'm in a debate regarding left-wing media bias, I find it useful to mention the treatment of Vice President Dan Quayle as opposed to the treatment of Vice Presidents Al Gore and Joe Biden by members of the Fourth Estate.

While Gore made statements that bordered on the absurd -- he claimed he created the Internet -- the liberal establishment even now heaps praise and accolades upon him, including an Academy Award for his documentary on global warming.
