I wish I shared the author's label of "ceasefire". Given the effective loss of sequestration with it's forced reduction in spending, I would characterize it more as "retreat". It appears the establishment Republicans have assumed the only way to achieve change is to gain control of all three branches of government. Do they not realize that the Democrats have permanently changed the landscape with 47% of Americans receiving government handouts - they will never achieve control of all three branches unless there is some cartaclysmic event. They must learn to operate with control of no more than one or two branches of government.
Please, Please, Please! Will someone oppose McCain in the primary. Although a resident of NC, I will donate to their campaign.
I think Mr. Christie's comments are based on his experiences in NJ which in my opinion is not representative of the majority of the US. Certainly his advice may be appropriate for the populus Northeast, but would be lousy for all other areas. In the long run, if it is a contest between Mrs.Clinton and the Republican his advice won't be worth a plug nickel even in the Northeast - she will win these urban states with ease. The only way to defeat Hillary is with a staunch conservative that excites the base and beats the stuffings out of the Democrats by repeating the term Obamacare in every other sentence. Hint to Mr. Christie - you'll never win the Republican primary - too much baggage.

Thank you, I couldn't agree with you more. It would eliminate two losers in one swoop.

I agree with your inability to tolerate O'Reilly. He goes ballistic if you agree with his position but not for the same reasons. After a while you'd just like to reach through the screen and jerk a knot in his arrogant neck. I find it hard to believe that his behavior doesn't offend viewers - especially his treatment of Laura Ingrahm - it's almost as if he finds her subbing threatining.I find I can no longer watch the program since I find I resent the sight of him.
The assertion that failure to act will cause further embarassement to the US is totally unfounded. The issue has already received maximum exposure and inaction will not change any minds - allies will remain supportive and detractors will remain so. In fact, failure to act will probably expedite removal of the subject from public consciousness.
If only that were true!! O'Reilly has become so egotistical that he is impossible for me to watch. It's an hour of him expressing how great he is. I can't believe that I'm the only one who is exhausted by his antics and ratings must be suffering.
There's no reason to question the moves made by FNC since they've been extremely successful. However, I believe that the superiority and condescension so prevalent in Ms Kelly's personality will not play well in the 9:00p slot. While her demeanor plays well in hard news, people want more of an opinion format at the 9:00p hour and her views will offend many of the FNC viewers. If FNC feels they need to replace Hannity, they should definitely consider Dana Perino. Ms Perino has the proper conservative credentials, is extremely high quality eye candy and has the proper demeanor to handle lefties.

Is Paula Deen the Worst American Ever?

Brhurdle Wrote: Jul 05, 2013 4:24 PM
Paula Deen served the liberal cause as an opportunity to reinforce the racist premise - white, southern bigot depriving blacks of their rights and dignity. They could care less about what she said but she presented an irresistible opportunity for a PR coup.
