If you have an ingrained preconception that white people are racists, you will interpret any interaction with them as exhibiting racism. If the short lady had struggled to reach the high placed item without asking her for help it would have been interpreted as not wanting to interact with her because she was black. It's a no win situation. It's obvious that FLOTUS has flexible intellectual principles since she is able to interpret events based entirely on her emotional needs. This incident says a lot more about the integrity of the FLOTUS than it does about racism in the US.
I believe Obama was correct in stating that many of the electorate object to the smell coming from the WH. However, as opposed to wanting the "new car smell", they just want to get rid of the stench of feces presently drifting from the WH.
I wish I shared the author's label of "ceasefire". Given the effective loss of sequestration with it's forced reduction in spending, I would characterize it more as "retreat". It appears the establishment Republicans have assumed the only way to achieve change is to gain control of all three branches of government. Do they not realize that the Democrats have permanently changed the landscape with 47% of Americans receiving government handouts - they will never achieve control of all three branches unless there is some cartaclysmic event. They must learn to operate with control of no more than one or two branches of government.
Please, Please, Please! Will someone oppose McCain in the primary. Although a resident of NC, I will donate to their campaign.
I think Mr. Christie's comments are based on his experiences in NJ which in my opinion is not representative of the majority of the US. Certainly his advice may be appropriate for the populus Northeast, but would be lousy for all other areas. In the long run, if it is a contest between Mrs.Clinton and the Republican his advice won't be worth a plug nickel even in the Northeast - she will win these urban states with ease. The only way to defeat Hillary is with a staunch conservative that excites the base and beats the stuffings out of the Democrats by repeating the term Obamacare in every other sentence. Hint to Mr. Christie - you'll never win the Republican primary - too much baggage.

Thank you, I couldn't agree with you more. It would eliminate two losers in one swoop.

Amen! O'Reilly has become his own biggest fan.

I agree with your inability to tolerate O'Reilly. He goes ballistic if you agree with his position but not for the same reasons. After a while you'd just like to reach through the screen and jerk a knot in his arrogant neck. I find it hard to believe that his behavior doesn't offend viewers - especially his treatment of Laura Ingrahm - it's almost as if he finds her subbing threatining.I find I can no longer watch the program since I find I resent the sight of him.
The assertion that failure to act will cause further embarassement to the US is totally unfounded. The issue has already received maximum exposure and inaction will not change any minds - allies will remain supportive and detractors will remain so. In fact, failure to act will probably expedite removal of the subject from public consciousness.
