This cannot be. This was as simple as 1,2,3 or a,b,c. Obama, and his camp followers in the media, mocked McCain's viewpoint that Gitmo maybe should be closed but that it was a difficult problem that required study. Everybody who said this wasn't as easy as it looks was lambasted and called a Bushie. Whoa, Nelly, could Obama have been wrong to say closing Gitmo could be accomplished with ease. This is outlandish. How could this philosopher-king have been mistaken?

The common narrative spilling around the United States is that an individual's liberty is directly tied to the costs associated with their behavior. That is the mechanism by which the collectivists hope to 'tame' individual liberty and freedom of choice. If they can redefine the term 'direct' to mean 'indirect', they can force all of us to submit to their dictates. For example, obesity is not a 'direct' cause of disease for a vast majority of people. But, if the collectivists can claim my personal lipid percentage 'directly' costs the nation, they think it will persuade others to monitor my calorie intake and calorie expenditures.
