I am convinced we did a good thing to remove Saddam Hussein (no relationship to Barack Hussein Obama) and his murderous cronies.

Unfortunately, the years of suppression, and the uneducated mindset of the typical Iraq citizen, will inevitably lead to a continued lifestyle of servitude for the masses.

We cleaned up one mess, and lost many wonderful soldiers doing it, but enough is enough!

No citizenry can be saved from ignorance and oppression unless they choose it. This is a lesson we need to learn here in the USA as well.

I say, "Get our fighting men and women out of there, with a rousing vote of gratitude from their fellow Americans, and let Iraq fend for itself."

I've been stewing over something really lousy that Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has been saying since June 20: that Iraqis have won a "great victory" over the "foreign presence in Iraq."

That "great victory," as he calls it, is the June 30 withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq's cities. That "foreign presence," as he calls it, is the United States -- the thousands of mainly young American men who have fought a vicious enemy under the harshest conditions for more than six long years, with 4,321 Americans killed, many thousands wounded, often grievously so,...
