Are you really arguing the infallable integrity of the scientific community? As any good reporter will tell you, "follow the money". ANY person whose well being depends almost entirely on government handouts quickly realizes what they must do to continue receiving those handouts. I some cases, it is not getting paid above board so the welfare check is not in jeopardy, in others it is insuring that the hand that has given them the $23 million does not get bitten. The government is in power to increase its power and sees a golden opportunity to buy more power very, very cheaply by insuring that the "interpretation of the data" goes their way. In my humble opinion, the dems did not lose seats in '94 for not getting health care passed, they lost seats for even putting the simple - minded plan out there. Americans have to be reminded loudly and often about what hare-brained meddlers the leftists are. The real reason they ever get a majority is because the press is 98% socialist anyway and would not report any fact if they couldn't spin it to the left somehow.

Speaking of the medical industry being dominated by unions. What effect do you think the AMA has on how many doctors we have? When you reduce a commodity you raise the price. I think that the number of doctors is artificially low because the AMA wants to keep the price up. If we think it is low now, wait until the government decides what their pay rates are. They'll be harder to find than future GM profits.
