...See, it's not that he's playing a game with it, and knows it; it's that whatever the truth is, the perception is currently that he's ignoring something that is a big deal to average voters; despite what the MSM is/isn't reporting . He should stop playing the game if that's what he's doing, and take the accusations as seriously as the Sheriff is, and come clean. If he's seen as not caring about issues that Republicans are concerned about; well Republicans also have some influence among independent and undecided voters; and it's not so much the truth that will matter, but the perception. Americans are often collectively wrong, and vote based on that wrong thinking. Would be a shame for him if his calculations are wrong.....
