"people act in their own self-interest - which is what makes our system such a great one." Ayn Rand wrote a whole book about that called ... The Virtue Shelfishness.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions!
Don't want the truth? That paper, in regards to the president won't typically give you the truth. At least theyu come through here... so since they NOW give some truth they are now on the dark side?
christie is a progressive (progress government and regress individual rights) I hope the GOP is not stupid enough to put him on the ballot in 2016. Who decides who is fit mentally to buy a gun? Some psycologist that is on the hook if they deem someone mentally fit and than that person breaks the law? Yes, I can see how many people will be denied... just to be safe. I wonder if a 15 year old needs permission to get the morning after pill? Need a government issued ID to buy a gun, a constitutional right but probably need nothing more than a utility bill or less to vote (not a constitutional right). And about those "background checks"... another way to know who has guns so when they deem you mentally unfit they can come an get your gun/s

Immigration Sophistry

By far the U.S. allows more people to legally immigrate here than any other country in the world. But that isn't good enough? Allowing immigration is for the benefit of out country not to the benefit of the immigrant.
Illegal immigration is down primarily due to a bad economy, so yes we can give credit to Obama for that. I don't see how we have a "broken system" when the U.S. has more legal immigration (avg 700,000 per year) than any other country in the world ... BY FAR. Probably the biggest reason that it takes a lot of time to migrate here legally is because there are many people that want to come here... that will be solved by the current administration by making this country not so desirable to come to. I wonder if it was Canadians that were the main problem would Chavez be so 'pro" "immigration" than?
True that many people leave states that struggle to keep a quality of life that is acceptable to many and typically due to too much government. These people then go to other states and promote the same things that they just left. Ignorance?
We cannot allow the government to decide for us what it is we "need". I don't really need 2 bathrooms but I WANT one. That is what freedom is all about having what I want as well as what I need. Katie makes some great points as to why an "assault weapon" could be needed, that is fine but if I want an AR-15 that is justification enough for me. Freedom isn't about need!
Well than you're an idiot if you believe proving you are a citizen (which is required in order to vote) violates your rights at all.
"Biden said that this is a moral issue" According to the left/progressives/dems/socialists so is abortion when they say that you can't legislate morality. As usual they make statements to support their opinion when convenient and they abandon them when it doesn't fit their agenda. They can try to confiscate... good luck. Owning a gun is a constitutional right just like voting is and again the attorney general in fact seems to think voter ID laws are too restrictive to be required. IMO, even a background check is too restricted (much more than showing an ID to vote is) for me to exercise my rights.
