If the 2.7 millions jobs that have been lost since the so-called stimulus was signed into the law did not convince you that government spending does not correlate into economic growth, take a look at this story from the Associated Press: Stimulus Cash Doesn't Create Local Jobs:

"Stimulus" is Not Creating Jobs
You've almost touched on a very important point. Democrats have held the majority in the House and Senate since 2007. In January 2007, the unemployment rate was 4.6%. By January 2009, it had risen to 7.7%. Now under total Democrat control, it has risen to 10%.
