Liberal Jewish-Americans can sometimes suffer from a guilt complex. They feel guilty that some other Jews have cast off the ghetto mentality of their fathers, and instead built a strong, proud, Jewish nation on the ancestral Jewish homeland. I think they prefer the victim status they enjoyed before 1948. Who doesn't want the whole world crying over your misfortunes? It's a split between the ghetto-Jew and the modern Israeli-Jew that is at the root of the MSM's vilification of Israel.

Take the war between Israel and Hamas that is taking place right now.

This war is as morally clear as wars get. Hamas is a terrorist organization dedicated to annihilating the Jewish state. It runs a theocratic totalitarian state in Gaza, with no individual liberty and no freedom of speech or press. In a nutshell, Hamas is a violent, fascist organization.
