I like the idea. At the very least, we should keep both sides poorly and equally armed. When Menachem Begin was asked in the 1980s if he had a favorite side in the Iran-Iraq war, he replied: "I wish both sides every success."

Catfish - Your post indicates you know nothing of the Likud party. Most of its ministers are great admirers of the United States and its political system. Naturally, they are not thrilled with POTUSs who demand that Israel act against its own best interests. But, I suppose for conspiracy-theory anti-Semites like you, JOOOZZZZZ acting in their own self defense is just so insane and unreasonable that there must be some dark, evil conspiracy behind it. Hint: The Protocols of the Elders of Zion was proven to be a forgery.

Strawman alert! Paolo3: Cliff does not claim Iran has nukes. He claims they are trying to buuild them. More accurately, Iran desires "breakout capability", in which all the pieces are in place to rapidly assemble nuclear weapons on short notice. And if you listen to what Iran's leaders tell their own people in Farsi, you would see that it is the reality. And signatories of the NPT do NOT have a "right" to enrich uranium. Read the treaty: Signatories only have the right to import limited quantities of low-enriched uranium for research and power production (like Iran needs nuclear power!). Here's another prediction for you, Paolo3: Once either Iran or ISIS consolidates its control of the middle east, they will not become peaceful members of the family of nations. They will continue to "export the revolution" (in both violent and non-violent forms) as Khomeini said, as every Islamic jihadist leader in history has done. And if you think the U.S. is safe because we are surrounded by two oceans and two somewhat friendly nations, you are living in the 19th century.

Sure, Catfish. It's all a big Libertarian-Isolationist joke until we are hit with an EMP or one of our major cities is a smoking pile of radioactive rubble. Throughout history it is the pacifist states that suffer the most crushing and long-lived defeats at the hands of their enemies, even as they tried to appease them. But you keep your head in the sand, Catfish, and if you're lucky, the jihadists won't kick your behind.

Thanks for showing everyone your ignorance of the O.T., Dyadd. That commandment was intended for one specific instance, once specific, and rather viscous, enemy of the Jews, and one occassion only. The...problem...is...ISLAM.

Jeff: There is a huge difference between people being expelled, fleeing war, political oppression or natural disaster, and a nation encouraging illegal border crossings of people looking to game the social welfare system.
It's worse than you think: If college students graduate without realizing how wrong speech codes are on campus, they will see nothing wring with speech codes in society in general. And that, I would guess, is the whole point. The Progressives love these campus speech codes, because they make the next generation of sheeple easier to control, and dissent easier to silence.

Stand With Israel

Israel has a right-of-center government, and a media that is one of the last bastions of the left. Plus, it has many private media outlets on the internet that have various political positions, all along the spectrum. If you want to know what is really going on in the M.E. as it affects Israel, visit ArutzSheva.com, Debka.com, Camera.org, and honestreporting.com, for starters. And who says Israel is "defenseless" against Hamas, Ken? Strawman alert. Also, in 1946, Palestine was under the British Mandate, as it had been since WWI and the defeat of the Ottoman Turks who had colonized it for about 500 years prior. There never was any Arab or Muslim State of Palestine, Jerusalem was never the capitol of an Arab or Muslims state, and Palestine was never more than a province within a larger territory. The victors in WWI, the allies, agreed that the Jews (as in Judea), the only extant indigenous people to the Land of Israel, be encouraged to return and build the third Jewish Commonwealth on their ancestral homeland. The Arabs rejected this, and went to war numerous times to destroy Israel. They lost in WWI, they lost in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, 2006 and 2014. Guess what? When you lose so many wars of aggression, you don't get to dictate the terms of the peace treaty. And, another strawman alert, Netanyahu never claimed Hamas is now killing "so many Israelis". But the fact is that it desires to, it says it will, has tried to, and it is re-arming to do just that. How many dead Jews is enough for you to justify self-defense, Ken? Total fail from Ken457.

And yet, both you and jr cannot help yourselves from clicking on any TH item that deals with either of these cultures. Go figure. If you spend this much time on posts you wish didn't exist, when do find time to read the posts you think are worthy of server space?
