This is NORMALLY the case... When SECONDS COUNT... The Police are only MINUTES AWAY. In times of disaster, they may NEVER get there. You are on your own. Best to be armed and prepared.

Per numerous legal decision by the Supreme Court, police have ZERO responsibility to reply to a 911 call. A firearm in the hands of a ready and willing citizen is the best means for that citizen to protect themselves. This has been proven time and again. From the 19 yr old who killed the man armed with a hunting knife who broke into her home in Oklahoma, to the 14 yr old who shot at and frightened off the home invaders in Arizona, to the 83 yr old former Green Beret who ended a serial burglars criminal career with a non lethal shot to the forehead with a 22 handgun. The round didn't penetrate the skull, but sent the criminal reeling and made him easily identifiable to the police.

After riots swept parts of the United Kingdom last year, I wrote about the moral argument for gun ownership. Simply stated, it is wrong to disarm law-abiding people, particularly when there is a risk of societal breakdown.

The same argument is equally applicable in the areas ravaged by the recent storm to hit the northeastern United States. As you can see from this report in the New York Post, the government is failing in its responsibility to provide law and order.
