The greed of people like Romney and his ilk are killing this country. The pay 13% and still angle for ways to pay less (Swiss accounts, offshore banks, etc.). I don't get why asking them to pay their fair share is such a big deal. Is requiring them to pay a few percent more really harder than demonizing cops and teachers and sanitation workers? Is it really that much harder than gutting programs that support communities and rebuild our infrastructure? To use Boehner's word - pathetic.
I think it's becoming apparent that none of these candidates can seriously be considered presidential material. Someone will have to emerge via a brokered convention. Should be an interesting journey.

I think insuring all Americans is the right goal. I'd have more respect for Romney if he didn't back away from what he helped start in Massachusetts. These plans have the potential to expand coverage and reduce costs. That should be the focus of our dialogue. There's actually a pretty interesting case for having a public option. But, if not that, then let's find another way. I'd rather we keep trying to refine and improve universal health care than dismiss it in its entirety.
Doesn't matter what he says or does, the Republican leadership will refute it because they're more interested in protecting their billionaire benefactors than serving our country. Glad to see Obama finally decided to stop trying to work with these people and finally take matters into his own hands. Sadly, given the Republican obstruction, this is what it's taken to dig ourselves out from the tragedy of the bush/cheney years.
of course you'll vote for your candidate no matter who he is. It's about "winning" versus what's best for the country. Newt epitomizes that, so I guess he's your best bet. Also, I'm not clear on how it works exactly, so please clarify the equation: - when good things happen with a Dem prez and Rep congress, it's congress who gets credit; - when bad things happen with a Dem prez and Rep congress, it's Prez who gets blame - when the country tanks with Rep Prez and a Rep congress, then it's Dems who get the blame Seems confusing, but I'm sure you can do one of those twisted Citizen's United type logic progressions to rationalize it.
I kind of wish the Republicans would participate in the rejuvenation of this country. Despite all the obstruction, this administration has managed to put the country on a positive growth track. Let's never forget the mess he inherited. Though not unexpected, it is tragic that Republicans are still making Obama look bad their 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th priority when they should be at least trying to improve conditions in this country (beyond the wealthy who they continue to tirelessly advocate for).
Not sure the left is scared of a newt candidacy. Everything he's done is marked by failure and scandal. And he's about the most unlikeable person ever to run for office. The Democrats should have a pretty easy time with him.
