Class warfare is an appealing position for many people. It is always easier to say tax the rich. The 16th Amendment was passed on this logic until the middle class found out that it was the 'rich' class. No pandering is needed. The GOP needs to stay on the message of liberty. Many will reject it because they desire servitude to government thinking they will achieve economic security. They will achieve neither. See USSR, China, Cuba, etc. where a minor infraction resulted in your ID being taken which meant no abiilty to buy food or work. Yes, a very humane society in those ole communist countries which is the purest form of socialism.
After moments of panic in the immediate aftermath of Mitt Romney's defeat, some Republicans and conservatives are regaining their equilibrium on the issue of what the GOP should do about immigration and the Hispanic vote.

They're looking at key questions from the campaign, like how much of Barack Obama's victory was attributable to Hispanic support. They're also looking at the Hispanic electorate itself to see how big a role immigration, versus a wide range of other issues, played in voting decisions.
