Yeahhh, not really... Private charities are only required to give 10% in benefits to the people you think you're are contributing to... Churches are probably the only real charitible organization because their belief system is based on helping others... Even the Hari Krishnas feed the homeless... Still, government should not be in the charity business, which is not to say we should get rid of welfare programs... what we need to do is make it so fewer people qualify by re-building our country and getting us back to work... Keep the safety net, but help people to NOT fall...

A new study produced by the Chronicle of Philanthropy shows that 14 out of the top 20 states in charitable giving are red, or Republican states, while 12 of the bottom 15 are blue, or Democrat states.

“The nation's sharp political divide can provide a clue to fundraisers,” writes the Chronicle. “The eight states that ranked highest in The Chronicle's analysis voted for John McCain in the last presidential contest while the seven lowest-ranking states supported Barack Obama.”
