Remembering Bob Hope's Service

Bob569 Wrote: Jun 18, 2010 5:40 PM
Bob Hope was not a favorite of liberals, simply because he was a dedicated patriot.

I was a rifleman (9th Inf Div) in Vietnam's mekong delta durring Christmas 1968 when Bob Hope's troupe was finally allowed to travel that far south in country to entertain the troops. My company was extracted from a search and destroy mission the morning of the show and taken to our base camp (Dong Tam)to see the show. An airstrike took place right across the river durring the show and Bob made a joke about it and never missed a beat. Part of that show can be viewed on You Tube. I can't tell you what a morale booster he was for the troops that Christmas, even though we were returned to the field later that day.

My expirence of that show,...

Stuck on Stupid: Obama's Czar Fetish

A little late to blame Bush, but I'm sure Obama will somehow try.

Obama has now insulated himself with yet another layer of government appointed Czars and cabinet members to not only use as a shield, but to verbably defend absolutely every decision he makes (Good or bad). He continues to coast on usless retoric with all the liberal support one could possibly desire.

The final tab will no doubt trickle to the working taxpayers that are already tapped out from all the initial "Feelgood" programs, ie, bailouts, gov involvement in the auto industry, costly green programs, cash for clunkers, and a socialist "share the wealth" healthcare plan that would make Marx prould. Middle class, grab your wallet once again.

Was Tiger Sincere?

I really enjoy watching Tiger play the game of golf which he does probably better than anyone else in the history of the sport. But please what bearing does his problems in life and marriage have to do with our political future? This issue isn't even close to having any political value. I would think since we face enough important economical and social issues with our current administration, that we shouldn't waste Townhall.com space on worrying about something that should be between Tiger Woods and his wife. Come on!

The grass being greener only matters if you are a cow.

Judas received thirty pieces of silver, I'll bet Benedict Arlen does better.

As for job loss to the global market place, I think you will find that Bill Clinton fought for and signed that document. As for your other obvious hero,Jimmy Carter, I wouldn't have the nerve to use the word Economics or Jobs in the same sentence with his name.

If you didn't want to discuss the 1930s, you shouldn't have brought it up. As for the Shanty town in Washington, that was a protest by WWI veterans not receiving their benefits. Our government at the time had them burnt out.

Crime control, the ending of prohibition, and job creation were the key factors in ending the poverty stricken 1930s. Check out the rise in unemployment in the past year with little or no plan of recovery in tact, not to mention the rise in crime. Combine that with an ever growing illegal population and tax increases and watch the middle class dwindle away. They certainly are not going to dwindle upward.
The Great Generation turned their depression around with hard work, sacrifice, job creation, and decency. The results was the creation of a strong middle class that is being destroyed today by the self serving gutless left.

Our great nation is as close to being a socialistic nation as it has ever been. It is frightening that an overwhelming amount of highly educated people have been duped by a movement in 2008 that was/is so determined to dismantle a society through our educational system, healthcare system, industrial base, military, and even once spoke of organizing a National Police force as powerful as our military.(Brown shirts)
If this liberal socialistic agenda does not scare the hell out of our population, why did we bother to study history.
In parts of California, there are interpreters in some hospitals to communicate the needs of illegals. There has been a determined effort the past year by the liberals to impose a government health care...

Pardon me, but didn't China shut down their industrial and transportation use within a large radius around the "Birds nest" for several days/weeks so our sterile masked Olympic competitors could breath?
It is every parents responsibility to instruct their children to ignore the nonsense that they are being taught about the "Gore Doctrine" on global warming. These teachers and Al Gore should be prosecuted for their socialistic agenda that is brainwashing our youth with our own tax dollars.
To me, socialism is just a hair away from communism.

One of the biggest threats of modern time is already in our past. That threat was having someone running our country that disassembled one of the best trained and most powerful military defense system in the world. Even more frightening was the thought of "Ozone Al", who refused to acknowledge terrorists threats, didn't know who Bin Laden was, loathed the military, and was more concerned about how many sheets of toilet paper each person uses, rising sea levels, and other self profiting causes that moved at Glacial speeds, being second in charge for eight long-long years. Fortunately even some democrats have sobered up and removed the lampshades from their heads and accessed the financial wreckage of the past thirteen months. Even a fool...
