He may have said something stupid/ignorant at the beginning of his statement. But, his main point, that a baby should not be murdered becuaseof the father's crime, is valid. His initial statemnt does not invalidate this nor does it warrent his stepping down. Talk about overblowing something.

Bob - The fact of his inability to understand that the media would jump all over this is why I don't think he's qualified for public office. Same as I don't think Joe Biden is. I care less about what he believes than his complete lack of common sense by making the statement.

Todd Akin would do his party and his country a service by stepping aside. The rest of the campaign will be dominated by this side issue, possibly denying Republicans a key Senate seat. To use the words "legitimate" and "rape" in the same phrase betrays a serious lack of judgment. Only about 1 percent of women undergoing abortions report that they were raped, according to the Alan Guttmacher Institute. One percent is not zero.
