hugh pussyfoots around too much.. let me cut to the chase. SI wanted to embarass Christian football players and mock christianity and they pick an ungrateful arrogant Jew who from an elitist ivy league college who works for the New York Times no less - can you get any more anti christian that the NYT? Well, mr, oppenheim - had these Christians you have such contempt for not welcomed your great grandfather from the pograms in eastern europe you would not be hee to bash the faith that created a haven for your Barabbas loving tribe. Absoutly pathetic people who can not accept the Messiah has come and they have disapointed God long ago.

good post bmitchell671. this website will never speak the simple truth. it's a firm believer in the rino school of the republican party. what kind of idiot says he hopes sports illustrated comes to him for 40 more years?

Sports illustrated does a good job covering sports and some people have hobbies. Do you have hobbies? Are hobbies sinful? Hobbies should not replace God. Hobbies are a gift from God. I like gardening and flowers. It is a hobby. I read gardening magazines.

Do you come here to make Christians and conservatives look like bigots? Every individual stands before God. No matter what their ancestry every INDIVIDUAL chooses to put their trust in the Messiah or to reject the Messiah. Every individual's works and words expose their faith or lack of faith. That includes you. David respected God's chosen king Saul out of love and respect for God. Christians respect and love God's chosen people out of respect and love and obedience to God.

Gods chosen people marie? Christians are Gods chosen people.

You'd do well to read Romans 11. God refers to the nation of Israel as His people, and he hasn't cast them away.

Christians are israel now. stop trying to deceive christians with your blasphemy. modern israel was created by the same people who spread the evils of communism through out the world. if i here one more supposed Christian taking certain passages of the bible out of context in order to fool Christians i'm going to puke. before america began worshiping at the altar of israel we were blessed by God and the greatest nation in the world. since we have been fooled into supporting the satanic talmudic state of israel, we have collapsed as a people, and our nation is at deaths door. as long as the jewish race rejects Christ, God WILL NOT bless them. and he WILL NOT bless those of us who enable them.

Christians are NOT God's chosen people NOW. God made promises to Israel some eternal some not. Revelation tells us that Israel, whom God has preserved again and again throughout history, plays a role in end times. WE ARE HIS BRIDE. WE ARE HIS CHURCH. WE ARE GRAFTED IN. You should read your BIBLE. The B-I-B-L-E yes that is the Book for me. I stand ALONE on the Word of God the B-I-B-L-E.

Israel has been both blessed and cursed for being the chosen and we have benefited through them and they are still in God's plan. Thank you God, things were so much worse before.

Gentiles were grafted in by means of the "church." There are both Jewish and Gentile Christians, though most in the world today are Gentile Christians.

Every sad song has an opportunity to make things better (John & Paul). Who also said "All you need is love."
I do not know if it was the way your parents were or something else that keeps you from the love of God.
Everything is beautiful, in it's own way (Ray Stevens)
and everything works for good to the one who loves God (the Bible).

Sports Illustrated has come to my mailbox for nearly 40 years. I hope it comes for 40 more. But I also hope whomever is assigning the stories in the future begins to think more about the readers than their political and social agendas.

Super Bowl week featured a cover of a praying Ray Lewis rising from the water, and a cover story by New York Times’ religion columnist Mark Oppenheimer on Christians in the NFL. The story was enough to cause PJMedia writer Andrew Klavan to declare he would not renew his SI subscription, and most serious Christian...
