Who really gives a crap what makes the Israelis feel good--a question which Prager believes is an important enough question to end his essay on. We are not Israelis. The fact that they are a "democracy" does not excuse the fact that they robbed the Arabs of their own country at gunpoint. Even if the Israelis were right on every pertinent issue we would not owe them our loyalty. People need to stop shilling for Israel and start standing up for American interests and American security--which does NOT include being Israel's perpetual babysitter.
You are making the same mistake that plagues this whole discussion from the outset. You state, "Brennan claimed that the extremists were victims of 'political, economic, and social forces,' and that they should not be described in 'religious terms.' But if America’s Islamist opponents describe themselves in religious terms, why shouldn’t we take seriously what they are saying?"

If anything a Christian says can be found to have some referent in the Bible, does that prove the motive is religious? If a Christian favors the death penalty (which is condoned by the Bible) are we to assume that it is only due to religion? When Bush, in 2001, spoke of a "crusade", did he literally mean a crusade to bring Christianity back to the...
I voted for Obama and still think he was the lesser evil over the major alternative, but you are right about this, they did make a real hash of this thing. How can you have even a pretense of a fair trial when you have the U.S. president and attorney general salivating over your execution? And if you can't, why not just keep the military system? They are falling over their own feet trying to please everyone on this.
Maybe the "problem" is not Islam, but that we invaded Iraq with less justification than Hitler had when he invaded Poland? Is that a possibility?

Too bad so-called conservatives have abandoned Washington's principled neutrality in favor of obeisance to foreign interests (predominantly Israeli), thereby giving liberals an opening they would never would've had otherwise.
